Finance Assistant wanted at Green Building Renewables YORK. We are growing rapidly and are looking out for people to join our team as we form a nationwide network of renewables installers across England.
Due to the swell of demand for renewables and exciting company acquisitions, we require an experienced Finance Assistant to join our York Head Office.

Job Purpose
We are looking for a competent Finance Assistant/bookkeeper at our York Head Office who can perform general bookkeeping and accounting within the business. They need to be experienced with all administrative tasks associated with a finance department. They would be responsible for overseeing and keeping appropriate documentation on payroll, bank transfers, National Insurance contributions, VAT returns and invoices. As this is an Assistant role, they may be asked to help out with various other tasks in the finance or accounting department.
Key responsibilities
- Allocating bank postings for multiple accounts in the system and advising wider teams when payments are received.
- Ensuring invoices / receipts are received for all transactions maximising VAT recovery.
- Preparing supplier payment runs in line with vendor terms and company policies.
- Credit control for the Green Building Renewables Division.
- Escalating customer issues which are holding up payments.
- Undertaking monthly reconciliations of bank, purchase and sales ledgers ensuring actions set for any reconciling / aged items.
- Completion and submission of CIS returns.
- Any other adhoc items required in a busy finance team of a rapidly growing business.
Education & qualifications
Essential
- Maths / English grades A-C GCSE/O’level
- Thorough attention to detail
- Excellent knowledge of maths

- Able to work in a fast paced environment
- Proficient user of Microsoft 365 packages including Outlook and Excel
